HIV Treatment Updates for Pharmacists
Live CE Webinar Provides You With All You Need to Know About Established Treatment Goals and Limitations and Answers Your Questions Regarding the Effective Management of Treatment-Experienced Patients
According to the CDC, increasing clinical trial data in the past few years have allowed for better distinction between the virologic efficacy and safety of different combination regimens in the treatment of HIV. In addition, substantial updates in the areas of Management of Treatment-Experienced Patients and Antiretroviral Agent Associated Adverse Events have been added to the Guidelines for the Use of Antiretroviral Agents in HIV-1-Infected Adults and Adolescents.
For pharmacists and other health care professionals, this webinar will give you the tools you need to:
- Explain the primary goals of antiretroviral (ARV) treatment and the rationale for prescribing combination therapy.
- Describe the common laboratory parameters that are monitored for disease progression as well as safety and effectiveness of ARV treatment.
- Design an appropriate ARV regimen based on the current guidelines.
- Examine data from pivotal clinical trials and how recently approved agents should be incorporated into the treatment of HIV.
- Identify monitoring parameters for each of the newer antiretroviral agents.
- List key adverse effects for each of the newer antiretroviral agents and suggest methods to prevent adverse effects
